Opening Night

Tonight was a big night for my wife; it was the opening night of her final year degree exhibition. There has been a lot of preparation in advance, and a lot of stress over the last few weeks. It was nice to see her enjoying the event, and I am incredibly proud of what she has achieved.

The venue was the soon to be demolished Preston indoor market. There is a lot of space for the students to display their work. It was eerily empty; I have many memories of visiting the place when it was in full use. There are still a few stalls within, though most have now closed.

The location is quite fitting. A number of the students—including my wife—undertook a project to document life within the markets in their second year. They photographed and interviewed a number of the stallholders, and a number of the images have been stored within the Lancashire archives.

I would strongly recommend visiting, if you get the chance.
